Resident Care Technician

Job Summary

Responsible for direct health care delivery to residents as specified on individual service plans and physicians’ orders according to Community Village policies.

Accountable To: Resident Care Manager and Resident Care Shift Supervisor or designee

Job Standards

  1. Must be at least eighteen (18) years old
  2. Must have at least one (1) year of experience with the elderly population
  3. Must maintain neat, well-groomed appearance and wear conventional type nursing scrubs
  4. Ability to verbally communicate with residents, families, the public, and other members of staff
  5. Ability to read/write English and document observations
  6. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment
  7. Must understand psychosocial problems of aging
  8. Must have a current CPR/AED certification and training in First Aid
  9. Must have a clear understanding of confidentiality and practice HIPAA principles
  10. Must be honest, dependable, and exhibit a warm, cheerful, caring manner
  11. Must treat residents, their family members, and fellow staff with common courtesy and respect
  12. Must be able to safely perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation

Essential Duties

  1. Implements residents’ service plans
  2. Administers and records medications (including insulin, eye drops, creams, nasal spray, enemas, suppositories) per physician order
  3. Accurately reports any changes of resident’s health, activities, or behaviors in a timely manner
  4. Checks weights and collects urine/stool samples per physician order
  5. Assists with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): showering, toileting, dressing, transferring and ambulation, grooming, and hygiene
  6. Must be able to handle emergency situations, including calling 911 when needed and following their instructions while awaiting Emergency Medical Technicians arrival
  7. Assists in passing trays at meal time and observes residents in the dining room for choking hazards or for assistance with feeding
  8. Makes hourly rounds throughout the shift, provides aid to residents as needed
  9. Answers the call lights and telephone promptly and courteously
  10. Makes sure the Resident Care Center is neat and in order at the end of the shift
  11. Plans to work a rotating shift that often includes weekends and holidays and possibly a mandated shift (see Shift Mandate Policy)
  12. Plans to arrive early to receive report and complete narcotic count. Be at the workstation ready to work at the scheduled time

Non-Essential Duties

  1. Assists with passing food trays during meal time
  2. Assists with answering Community Village phones as needed
  3. Assists residents with non-medical personal tasks (for example, redirection, providing aid with use of cell phones, laptops, tablets, and TV remote)
  4. Assists with tasks related to Community Village special events

Housekeeper

Job Summary

Responsible for the housekeeping of Community Village to assure the health and safety of all staff and residents, and to provide a level of cleanliness that makes the Village itself one of the best marketing features for prospective residents.

Accountable To: Facility/Housekeeping Manager or designee

Job Standards

  1. Must have one (1) year of experience in housekeeping
  2. Must have one (1) year of experience with the elderly population
  3. Must have a valid State of Michigan Driver’s License
  4. Must be at least eighteen (18) years old
  5. Ability to verbally communicate with residents, families, the public, and other members of staff
  6. Ability to read/write English and document observations
  7. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment
  8. Must understand psychosocial problems of aging
  9. Must have a current CPR/AED certification and training in First Aid
  10. Must have a clear understanding of confidentiality and practice HIPAA principles
  11. Must be honest, dependable, and exhibit warm, cheerful, caring manner
  12. Must treat residents, their family members, and fellow staff with common courtesy and respect

Essential Duties

  1. Follows detailed duties list for housekeeping
  2. Treats residents, their family members, and fellow staff with common courtesy and respect
  3. Does a daily general cleaning of residents’ rooms
  4. Deep cleans two to three (2-3) resident’s rooms weekly, or more often as needed
  5. Delivers clean bedding weekly and as needed, assists residents that are unable to make their own beds
  6. Delivers clean towels and wash clothes to residents twice weekly or as needed
  7. Cleans all windows in residents’ rooms semi-annually or as needed
  8. Cleans all windows in lodge areas monthly or as needed
  9. Cleans lodge congregate areas thoroughly every day
  10. Works with resident care staff to have an awareness of special housekeeping needs that may be in the care plan of Assisted Living residents
  11. Cleans visitor restrooms daily
  12. Cleans offices, chapel, and library weekly or as needed
  13. Assists dietary staff to serve as necessary
  14. Takes out trash as needed
  15. Works with other staff to ensure that all tile floors are stripped and waxed as needed
  16. Works with other staff to maintain all carpets
  17. Assists with laundry as needed
  18. Immediately reports broken or faulty equipment that present danger or loss of resources (for example, roof leak, loose electrical wire, broken faucet) to Facilities/Housekeeping Manager
  19. Makes sure sidewalks are properly shoveled and salted when it snows
  20. Responds to housekeeping emergencies as requested by staff or residents

Non-Essential Duties

  1. Assists with passing food trays during meal time
  2. Assists residents with non-medical personal tasks (for example, redirects residents, aids with use of cell phones, laptops, tablets, and TV remotes
  3. Assists with tasks related to Community Village special events
  4. Work Setting/Environment
  5. Work is performed indoors and outdoors year round. Community Village is well-lit and clean with some exposure to dust
  6. There are possible exposures to bodily fluids, and occasional exposure to hazardous materials and toxins
  7. There are occasional exposures to loud noises and bodily injury
  8. There is occasional stress from working with a variety of people and personalities throughout the shift

Maintenance Assistant

Job Summary

Responsible for working with the Facility/Housekeeping Manager to maintain the entire Community Village and affiliated equipment to assure the health and safety of all staff and residents.

Accountable To: Facility/Housekeeping Manager or designee

Job Standards

  1. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  2. Must have two (2) years of experience in building and grounds maintenance or educational equivalent
  3. Must have at least one (1) year of experience with the elderly population
  4. Must have a valid State of Michigan Driver’s License
  5. Must be at least eighteen (18) years old
  6. Ability to verbally communicate with residents, families, the public, and other members of staff
  7. Ability to read/write English and document observations
  8. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment
  9. Must understand psychosocial problems of aging
  10. Must have a current CPR/AED certification and training in First Aid
  11. Must have a clear understanding of confidentiality and practice HIPAA principles
  12. Must be honest, dependable, and exhibit a warm, cheerful, caring manner

Essential Duties

  1. Assists the Facility/Housekeeping Manager to maintain equipment and to repair broken or worn equipment
  2. Assists the Facility/Housekeeping Manager to maintain all carpets
  3. Assists the Facility/Housekeeping Manager to make building and grounds improvements
  4. Immediately responds to reports of broken or faulty equipment that present denser or loss of resources (for example, roof leak, loose electrical wire, broken faucet). If such problems go beyond the personal ability to correct, the Facility/Housekeeping Manager should be contacted
  5. Assists the Facility/Housekeeping Manager to address landscaping needs
  6. Assists with transporting residents as needed
  7. Assists with the housekeeping staff, volunteers, and temporary workers to make sure that all tile floors are stripped and waxed as determined necessary
  8. Assists housekeeping to assure all matters of personal resident care are covered daily
  9. Takes out trash as needed
  10. Ensures sidewalks are properly shoveled and salted when it snows

Non-Essential Duties

  1. Assists residents with non-medical personal tasks (for example, redirection, aid with use of cell phones, laptops, tablets, and TV remote)
  2. Assists with tasks related to Community Village special events
